New Delhi, Dec 03, 2024 : The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, on 29th November 2024, heard plea of Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam & his family members against judgment dated 29.10.2024 passed by Hon’ble High Court of Judicature of Madras passed in Suo Motu Criminal Revision Case No. 1524 of 2023 and granted stay against the Impugned Judgment.
The Hon’ble High Court, vide Impugned Judgment, had directed for accused persons to be summoned by Trial Court to face day to day trial which trial was, additionally, directed to be concluded on or before 30.06.2025.
The accused persons i.e. Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam & his family members were identified as accused persons pursuant to an investigation done in an FIR registered in 2006 and had stood discharged vide an order passed in 2012.
The Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam & his family members were represented before Apex Court by Mr. Mukul Rohatgi, Dr. AM Singhvi, Mr. Sidharth Luthra & Mr. S. Nagamuthu, Senior Advocates in a petition drawn by Mr. Ketan Paul, Mr. Madhav Misra, Mr. Avi Tandon & Mr. Satyam Thareja, Advocates and filed by Mr. Ketan Paul, Mr. Satyam Thareja & Mr. Lzafeer Ahmad B.F., Advocates – on – Record.
