Kochi, June 17, 2021: The Kerala High Court has sought an explanation from the central government and the Lakshadweep administration on the anticipatory bail plea filed by actor Aisha Sultana who has been booked for sedition.

The High Court also granted Aisha Sultana’s request to hear the case Thursday.

Actor-model Aisha Sultana earlier this week filed an anticipatory bail plea in the Kerala High Court against the Kavaratti Police in Lakshadweep.

As the matter was taken up on Tuesday, the Kerala High Court sought the stand of the central government and the Lakshadweep administration on the matter. Saying that police had asked Aisha to appear on Sunday in connection with the case, her lawyer asked the court to consider her bail plea on Thursday in view of the urgency of the situation, India Today reported.

The Centre government and the Lakshadweep administration told the court that they would file a written reply, following which the matter was adjourned to Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Save Lakshadweep Forum conducted a meeting in connection with the protest against the administrator on Tuesday and decided to exclude the BJP from the forum.
