New Delhi, September 13, 2023: In a recent development, the Supreme Court has granted bail to a man in a tax evasion case on the grounds of his cooperation with the investigating agency.
During the hearing before the division bench of Justice Aniruddha Bose and Justice Sanjay Kumar, it was revealed that the appellant had actively participated in the ongoing investigation. In light of this cooperation with the investigating agency, the bench opined that there was no need for custodial interrogation of the appellant.
Consequently, the bench directed that the appellant be released on bail, subject to the terms and conditions deemed fit and proper by the Trial Court.
As a condition of his bail, the appellant was required to surrender his passport to the Trial Court. Furthermore, he was prohibited from traveling beyond the borders of India during the pendency of the case, except with the prior approval of the Trial Court.
