Chandigarh, July 9, 2021: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has dismissed the interim bail plea of an accused facing trial for the murder of four of his family members.

The accused, Kuldeep Singh from Amritsar district in Punjab, was arrested in 2019 for murder and other subsequent charges. He pleaded before the high court that he wanted to attend the bhog ceremony of his mother who passed away.

The State counsel submitted before the court that since the petitioner is facing trial for the murder of four of his family members, his presence among his family at such a sensitive place may vitiate the occasion.

The High Court bench of Justice Rajesh Bhardwaj said, “I find the submissions made genuine. In the facts and circumstances of the case, no ground is made out to release the petitioner on interim bail. Petition is dismissed.”
