Dire need for lockdown in Gujarat, says High Court amid Covid spike
By LE Desk
Ahmedabad, April 6: The Gujarat High Court on Tuesday said there is a dire need for lockdown-like restrictions in the state, given the surge in Covid-19 cases.
The court suggested that curfew be imposed in the state for three to four days. Alternatively, weekend curfew could help to control the Covid-19 situation in the state, it said.
The Court directed the state government to take a decision on this at the earliest, India Today reported.
These suggestions came as a response to a public interest litigation filed in the court.
A total of 3,160 fresh Covid-19 cases and 15 deaths in 24 hours were reported in Gujarat on Monday. There are more than 16,000 active cases in the state currently.
