Competition Law veteran K K Sharma joins Singhania & Co.

New Delhi, April 18, 2022: Singhania & Co. has announced the joining of the Competition and Antitrust veteran K K Sharma to boost the Competition Law Practice of the Firm.

K K Sharma is an eminent global expert of competition law and was the very first Director General of the functional Competition Commission of India (CCI) and also a retired Commissioner of Income Tax. 

Sharma was the first Head of the Merger Control and Antitrust Divisions of CCI and one of the few individual members of the RPP Platform of UNCTAD. He was also on the Global Antitrust Advisory Board of Bloomberg.

He holds a Ph.D. Fellow (Competition Law) from Bangor University (UK), and is an alumnus of King’s College (London) and IIT. In addition to being a lawyer, he also earned a Master’s degree in Economics, and was recently appointed Senior Counsel by the President of India to deal with complex matters of Govt. of India.

He will be joining the New Delhi office of the Firm, it said in a press statement. 

As part of its strategic growth plan, the Firm has been on an expansion spree, with the opening of new offices in Delhi and Dubai to provide local support to its clients in the MENA region. The Firm has also added a Private Client Practice team last month to advise clients on estate planning, structuring et al, the press statement said.
