Chandigarh, June 8, 2021: Awaiting prosecution sanction, the CBI court has deferred the hearing in the case of an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of the Chandigarh Police, Harbhajan, who was arrested on the charges of demanding bribe from an Air Force employee, Dharampal.

The court has now fixed the hearing for July 8, The Tribune reported. The chargesheet against the accused was already submitted in the court.

Dharampal, a resident of Lalru, told the CBI that he had taken a loan from a finance company. He said he was paying the instalments regularly, but was not being issued receipts. So, he stopped making payments to the company. On receiving the complaint from the company, the ASI allegedly met Dharampal and demanded Rs10,000 for not registering a case against him. The CBI had caught the ASI red-handed.
